Hugo Chavez Smith, renown Chilean music researcher, producer, collector and record dealer behind the Background record label (Sun Dial, Forever Amber, Spriguns Of Tolgus, Sindelfingen, Five Day Rain, Traffic Sound, Andromeda, Ithaca, Pussy, etc.) puts his Essex Records (The Koobas, Kissing Spell, July, Traffic Sound, Laghonia) back into the game with a double feature of 2015 reissues of fundamental Chilean rock band Aguaturbia’s first two albums, both originally released in 1970, and long hence high valued collector grails.
Aguaturbia, formed in the late 1960’s, and its original lineup, Denisse (vocals), Carlos Corales (guitar), Ricardo Briones (bass), Willy Cavada (drums) released their first two LPs through Arena records in 1970 in Chile. Considered high on top of the history of adventurous hard blues psych rock music experiences in Latin America, these reissues should be of interest to anyone heading for top rate psychedelic albums of the era.
