Description

Very nice (and rare) Decca contract pressing (grooved label) of The Beatles' mono 'Please Please Me' LP, Parlophone PMC 1202.

Matrices: XEX 421-1N, XEX 422-1N, no tax codes on labels, no 'Sold In UK...', with 'The Parlophone Co. Ltd.....' around the label edge.

Flipback E.J.Day & Co. sleeve with large black 'mono' has quite a lot of small edge creases, a little corner bumping, a light corner crease visible top right at the front and one on the back, bottom right. Some light age browning spots, but colour is excellent, no fading, and flipbacks are all intact. Overall, this is a very nice sleeve which grades VG+.

The vinyl plays brilliantly, very strong audio indeed, as you would expect from a Decca pressing! There is a little background noise at the very start of each side, and it is also audible between tracks, but it's not obtrusive during tracks. Also the occasional click, again nothing to spoil the enjoyment of a great record! Playgrade is VG. Visually, the vinyl grades EX-, looks very nice indeed with just a few light lines on each side along with what looks like a few lines of 'residue' maybe caused by storage in a plastic lined sleeve.

Overall a great copy of a rare record.
