BEATLES UK – A Hard Days Night, rare transitional mono labels.

PMC 1230 – original 1964 black and yellow Parlophone labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. some Beatle internet sites and books that detail Beatle record labels suggest that this particular record label variation does not exist, but here it is. What makes the label on side one so unusual is that it carries the usual text, of ‘The Gramophone’ etc text around the rim of the label and the text ‘P 1964’ text, but this label has the track title of ‘I should have known better’ appearing on two lines of text !,

2. also the size of the text on the labels for ‘A Hard Days Night’ and the words ‘The Beatles’ appears much smaller.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition, the front is laminated. This laminate has remained clean and very glossy. The spine is in excellent condition and has remained clean and white in colour and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve has the period tri flipback design. The rear of the sleeve has remained clean for its age. There are NO tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue. There is some pen writing to the rear, top left on the sleeve that reads, ‘ 43 CPOs’.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original period EMI ‘Patents applied for’ sleeve. Theres NO pen writing, stains, splits, stickers or sticker residue. There is a 5mm tear to the front opening edge and a 10mm tear to the rear opening edge.

THE RECORD: side one is in near very good condition. Side two is in good++ condition. The record has remained dark and glossy. The record is made from the original 1960s thick, heavy vinyl.

The matrix  nos. are:  XEX  481 – 3N  and  XEX  482 – 3N,

The mother / stampers are:  ‘ 3    A L P  ’   and   ‘ 4   A R O ’.

THE AUDIO: is near excellent, it plays with relatively quiet grooves, I did hear some light ‘ticks’ here and there. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in excellent condition, side two is in very good++ condition. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. The labels are free from pen writing, stickers and sticker residue.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
