Description
BEATLES UK – ABBEY ROAD LP, Export ‘A – 3U ’ matrix & a ‘1 GG’ mother/stampers.
1969 PCS 7088 - APPLE RECORD LABEL.
A first press UK album in 100% original condition, featuring:
1. an unusual matrix on side one of the record, which is now referred to as a matrix for the Export market !. Normally the matrix numbers on these first press dark green apple labels is 2/1. But on this copy the matrix on side one is: ‘ YEX 749 A – 3 U’.
2. the Mother/Stampers on side one are very, very early ‘ 1 G G ’, together with the EXPORT matrix,
3. the track ‘ Her Majesty ’ is NOT printed on the record label on side two nor is it printed on the rear of the sleeve, BUT the track DOES play on the record !
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition, one of the best sleeves I have seen for a long time. The sleeve is fully laminated. The sleeve has a nice straight spine and all the text is clear to read. There are NO stains, pen writing, tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good condition and is the original EMI white sleeve with the text ‘ Patent applied for’, not to be confused with the earlier ‘Patents’ sleeve with an ‘s’ !. Theres NO stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is a side edge split to one side. Also to the rear top left there is some discreet black pen writing that says: ‘Abbey Road, Beatles’.
THE VINYL: is in near excellent condition, the vinyl is made from the period thick, heavy vinyl. It is still very dark and glossy in appearance.
The Matrix are : YEX 749 - A - 3 U (unusual, referring to an export issue ! ), and YEX 750 – 1,
The Mother/Stampers are : very, very early ‘ 1 G G ’ and ‘ 5 R O T ’.
THE AUDIO: is excellent, the record does play with some crackle, with a professional clean this maybe improved. The record plays well without the needle sticking or jumping.
THE LABELS: are in excellent condition. As this is a first pressing side one shows a DARK Green Apple. The song ‘ Her Majesty ’ does NOT appear on the label. Theres NO pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the labels.
