BEATLES UK – Abbey Road LP, UK first issue, misaligned apple logo sleeve.

PCS 7088 – 1969 Apple record labels.

A UK very first issue album from 1969 in original condition, featuring:

1. a misaligned APPLE logo mispress on the rear of the sleeve,

2. the sleeve appears to have a more unusual reddish ‘hue’ to it, making the photos of the front and rear of the sleeve seem more vivid,

3. on side two of the record label, the track ‘Her Majesty’ is not printed nor is it printed on the rear of the sleeve, but the track plays on the record !

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition, the sleeve is laminated front and rear. This laminate has a really good glossy finish. The original period ‘thin’ spine is in near excellent condition and has remained white and clean and all the text on the spine is clear to read. As this is a very first issue of this album, from September 1969, it features the Apple logo on the rear of the sleeve misaligned, to the left !. EMI were quick to correct this and very soon the sleeves were changed and the Apple logo was correctly aligned with the song listing. There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is some creasing to the laminate here and there.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original period, plain white EMI sleeve, with its original ‘Patent No: 1,125,555 together with the text ‘Made in Great Britain’. Theres NO pen writing, splits, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE RECORD: side one is in excellent condition, side two is in near very good condition. The record  is made from the original 1960s period thick, heavy vinyl. It has remained dark and glossy.

The matrix are:  YEX 749 - 2  and  YEX  750 - 1,

The mother / stampers are:  ‘ 3  G R T ’  and  ‘ 4  G G T ’,

THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent+, with excellent, relatively crackle free grooves. Side two plays near very good, it plays with some ticks heard here and there, otherwise it plays with relatively crackle free grooves. The record plays with a good loud, period stereo sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in excellent condition. As this is a very first issue, side one shows a DARK green Apple colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
