Description
THE BEATLES, ABBEY ROAD. PCS 7067 Stereo LP Album in Excellent condition.
This is the rare original UK Apple first pressing with the 'Her Majesty' misprint.
Although many think the ‘misaligned’ apple variant is first pressing and this copy second, they were actually released and on sale at the same time.
Several features are unique to this pressing:
- The 'DRAIN COVER' is partly visible on the front of the Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve.
- The labels feature the dark green apple logo and have no 'HER MAJESTY' credit on the track listing of Side 2.
- The discs have the matrix numbers: YEX 749-2 (there was never a -1 release) & YEX 750-1.
I provide an honest and thorough description of records so buyers have no surprises.
The condition is as follows:
Sleeve: Excellent
This early pressing sleeve looks great.
As mentioned, the edge of the drain cover is visible on the front of the sleeve. Later versions used a different cover image where the drain cover cannot be seen.
Both the front and back retain the original gloss sheen with bright colours.
The corners are sharp and the opening edge is crisp.
The only sign of age is a small (3cm) scuff on the spine.
Otherwise there is nothing to note. No ring wear, no creasing, no writing.
All in all a really nice sleeve.
Inner: Excellent
Original apple white inner sleeve with ‘patent pending’ written in black ink is in great condition.
Very crisp corners with no folds or tears and minimal discolouration.
An additional audiophile quality, anti-static inner sleeve is also provided which I have stored the disc within (last picture).
Disk: Excellent
I'm a bit of an Abbey Road hoarder, I think it's a fantastic album. And this is a really great disc to listen to it on.
Playback is fantastic. Virtually no background crackle, great channel separation and no distortion.
Side 1 audio has only two points to note; three pops at the start of 'Come Together' and 6 pops at the start of 'Something'.
Side 2 has near mint audio. The crickets can clearly be heard chirping away at the start of 'Sun King' - more often than not they get sounded out with crackle or simply worn away.
As can be seen in the pictures (from the reflection of the clouds!), the disc retains the original mirror-like finish.
Visually, Side 1 has one mark which can be seen across all tracks. Side 2 has a mark across tracks 2-4 and a very small pressing scuff. Otherwise only very minimal hairlines.
These cannot be heard but I like to be as honest as I can and describe everything that I would note if purchasing.
The labels are bright, very clean, have minimal spindle wear and no writing.
Overall a really nice copy of an increasingly hard to find record! A great addition to any collection.
Any questions please ask.
