BEATLES UK – REVOLVER original Stereo, RARE  E J Day sleeve.

1966 PCS 7009 – original black and yellow Parlophone labels.

An UK Stereo copy in original condition, with a very hard to find stereo sleeve made by E J Day.

With the exception of the very first issue of the Beatles first album, ‘Please Please Me’, first issue stereo E J Day sleeves are near impossible to find, mono E J Day Beatle sleeves are not that difficult to find. The norm recording format in the early to mid 1960s was mono, if a customer wanted the ‘stereo format’ it would have been specially ordered.

So it is near impossible to find an original stereo flipback first issue Beatles album with a stereo E J Day sleeve.

The record features:

1. a near impossible to find original flipback stereo sleeve made and printed by the company ‘E J Day’ rather than the usual ‘Garrod and Lofthouse’ sleeve,

2. on side two on the record, the original ‘mother’ has been crossed out and replaced with the number ‘1’,

3. a very early set of mother / stampers, they are ‘1 O P’ and ‘1  R M’,

4. the record label on side two has the spelling of ‘Doctor Robert’, but on the sleeve this track is spelt as ‘ Dr  Robert’ !.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The rear features the original tri-flipback design. The spine is in excellent condition and all the text is clear to read. There are NO splits, pen writing, stains, stickers or  sticker residue on the sleeve. There is a small ‘nick’ to the middle front opening edge (front only). A very clean example of such a RARE sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original correct period EMI ‘Patents applied for’ sleeve. There are NO tears, stains, splits, stickers or sticker residue.

THE VINYL: is in excellent+ condition, the playing surfaces have a few light ‘scuffs’, but it is clear the record has not been played very much at all. It is made of the period thick, heavy vinyl. The vinyl has a ‘new’ look to it, it is very clean, dark and glossy.  

The matrix are:   YEX  605 - 1  and   YEX 606 – 1,

The mother/stampers are: (very early) ‘ 1   O P ’ and ‘1   R M’,

THE AUDIO: is excellent, it plays with excellent quiet groves, one of the nicest playing copies I have heard. The record lays flat on the turntable.  

THE LABELS: are in excellent condition. The letters ‘ K T ’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. The labels are free from any pen writing, sticker residue or stickers.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
