Description

BEATLES UK, Sgt Pepper, mis press NO ‘A day in the life’, record label, UK mono.

PMC 7027, original UK 1967 black and yellow Parlophone record labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. a hard to find copy featuring a mis pressed record label on side two, as the track, ‘A day in the life’ has NOT been printed on the record label !. It is hard to see how this could have happened at the EMI printing factory. One theory is, this track was banned by the BBC in 1967 in England, but this theory is unlikely as reference to this track still remained printed on the sleeve !. Only a very small number of these mis pressed record labels were ever printed, as EMI were quick to spot this error,

2. on record label one there is an ‘additional dot’ within the text, ‘Sold in U.K.’ etc, as it reads, ‘Sold in .U.K.’. This ‘additional dot’ does not appear on the record label on side two !,

3. comes with its original period EMI plain white, ‘Patents applied for’, inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in excellent+ condition and has remained clean white and straight and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The four opening edges have remained clean and sharp. When the ‘gatefold’ sleeve is opened the two original top ‘flip backs’, ie fold over edges can be seen, the inside of the sleeve has remained very clean and glossy. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INSERT: is in near MINT condition and is the original DARK green insert. The rear has remained very clean. There are NO tears, pen writing, folds, stickers or sticker residue on the insert.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original period, plain white EMI inner sleeve with ‘square’ corners and the text, ‘Patent applied for’. The inner sleeve is made of the period, quality heavy grade paper with a textured surface on the inside. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is a slight split to one of the side edges.

THE RECORD: side one is in excellent++ condition, if fact when viewed under normal daylight conditions it is very hard to see any marks at all. Side two is in excellent condition. The record is made from the period 1960s, thick, heavy vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy.

The matrix are: XEX 637 – 1 and XEX 638 - 1,

The mother / stampers are: ‘38 MMH’ and ‘2 MAL’,

THE AUDIO: each side plays excellent++, with excellent quiet grooves, a near perfect audio. The record lays flat on the turntable and plays a full, loud period mono sound.

THE RECORD LABELS: side one is in excellent++ condition, side two is in excellent+ condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
