BEATLES UK – White Album, Racoon mis press, original UK early numbered stereo LP.

1968 PCS 7067/7068 -  Apple record labels.

A UK first issue, top loading stereo copy with a unique individual serial number of, ‘No. 0220438’, and featuring:

1. on side two of the record label it features the spelling mistake of ‘Racoon’ !, as it has been incorrectly spelt with one ‘c’ !. This was soon spotted by EMI and corrected but some records with this mis pressed label did make it out of EMI and into the shops,

2. in general, the numbers on the first issue stereo sleeves began at about 03000000 and went up to about 06000000, so this ‘stereo’ sleeve has an unusually low number,

3. side three of the record has early ‘mother /stampers’, being ‘ 1 G D L’.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition, the double album gatefold sleeves is fully laminated. The sleeve has remained clean for its age. On the front it has an embossed Beatles logo and a unique individual SERIAL number of No. 0220436, this number appears clear and bold. On the rear, top right there is a small ‘Stereo’ logo printed proving this to be a genuine STEREO sleeve. The spine is in very good++ condition and for its age it has remained a fresh clean white and all the text on the spine can be read. The sleeve features two visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened. When the sleeve is opened it is glossy and clean. The rear of the sleeve is also clean and glossy. There is a 10mm tear to the inside top, middle, front opening edge and some small ‘nicks’ to the rear top, middle, opening edge. There are NO splits, or other tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE INNER SLEEVES: are the two original black APPLE inner sleeves and have not been replaced. One sleeve is in very good condition, it has two 10mm tears around the ‘die cut hole’, and just one small ‘nick’ to the front opening edge. The back opening edge has one 10mm and one 5mm tear and some small ‘nicks’, there are NO splits. The other sleeve is in good++ condition, it has one 65mm tear and a 40mm tear and a 5mm tear around the ‘die cut hole’. The back opening edge has a small 10mm ‘triangle ’ piece of the paper missing. There is some slight splitting to the two side edges and to the bottom edge. There are  NO sellotape repairs, sellotape residue, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeves.

THE POSTER: the original poster is in good++ condition. Theres NO sellotape / residue, pin holes, ‘blue tack’ residue, stickers or sticker residue on the poster. A clean poster for its age. There is some wear / splits to some of the folds and some ‘pen’ crosses and ticks to six of the track, lyrics on the rear. There are some age related marks on the poster, here and there.

THE PHOTOS: are the original four photos, their condition is, the photo of John is in excellent condition, with just some slight age related marks to the front, white border. The photo of Paul is in good condition, it has a number of creases. The photo of George is in near excellent condition, with just some slight age related marks to the front, white border. The photo of Ringo is in excellent condition. The photos are made from the original thick card. Theres NO pen writing, pin hole damage, tears, sellotape or ‘blue tack’.

THE RECORDS: record one, side one and two are in ‘good’ condition, record two, side three is in near very good condition, and side four is in good++ condition. The records are made of the original 1960s ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl.

The matrix nos. are:  YEX  709 – 1,  unusually YEX  710 - 2, YEX 711 - 1 and  YEX 712 - 1.

The mother / stampers are: ‘ 3 L H ’, ‘ 2 L H ’, early ‘ 1  G D L ’ and  ‘ 4  G G H’.

THE AUDIO: is good, each side plays with crackle, ‘pops’ and ‘ticks’ heard here and there. The audio plays with a good, loud, period stereo sound. Each record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one and three is in excellent condition, side two is in near excellent condition and side four is in excellent+ condition. As this is a very first issue, side one and three feature the original DARK green apple colours. Each of the labels have the text ‘An EMI recording’ and ‘Sold in UK’ etc. Each label is free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
