BEATLES UK – White Album, original early NO ‘An EMI Recording’ text, UK stereo labels.

1968 PCS 7067/7068 - Apple record labels.

A UK very first top loading sleeve, stereo copy. Like all first issues, there is an individual serial number that appears on the front of the sleeve, but this number on this copy has been rubbed away over time, it appears to be ‘No. 0564630 !’, but this isn’t entirely clear, the record features:

1. the record labels are very early as they do not show the usual line of text, ‘An EMI recording’. It is very unusual to get a set of original dark green apple, first issue stereo labels without this text,

2 the record on side three has a more unusual ‘2’ matrix, nearly all of these first issue records had a ‘1’ matrix,

3. on side three of the record the ‘mother / stampers’, are very early, they are: ‘1  G G L’.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the double album gatefold sleeve has an excellent glossy laminate and for its age has remained relativity free from any ‘scuffs’ and indentations. For its age the four opening edges of the sleeve have remained clean and sharp. As this is a very first UK press, it would have had a unique individual serial number on the front of the sleeve. But with this copy it seems that over time the original grey ink of the number has been rubbed off, but I can see the original indentations of the number on the laminate when held to the light, the number ‘appears’ to be, No. 0564630, but it is not entirely clear. To the rear there is a small printed ‘Stereo’ logo, proving this to be a genuine STEREO sleeve. The spine is in very good++ condition and has some of the normal ‘flaky’ laminate to the spine, but it has remained relatively clean and all of the text is clear to read. When the gatefold sleeve is opened it is very clean and glossy. The sleeve features two visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down. There are NO splits, tears, stains, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is a ‘bump’ to the front, lower right corner, this ‘bump’ only really affects the front, outer side of the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVES: are the original Apple black inner sleeves and have not been replaced. One sleeve is in very good+ condition, it has two 5mm tears and a 10mm tear around the ‘die cut hole’ and some small ‘nicks’ to the back opening edge, there are NO splits. The other sleeve is in near excellent condition, it has two 5mm tears around the ‘die cut hole’, there are NO splits and the two opening edges are clean.

THE POSTER: the original poster, is in very good+ condition. Theres NO pen writing, sellotape / residue, pin holes, blue tack residue, stickers or sticker residue on the poster. There are some splits, 30mm etc, to some of the side folds and some light age related marks here and there.

THE PHOTOS: the original four photos, their condition is: the photo of John is in poor condition as there is a stain or ‘water mark’ to the top half for the photo and some creasing and age related marks to the rear. The photo of Paul is in good condition, there is some cellotape residue to each corner, some creasing and some ‘water marks’ and some age related marks hear and there. The photo of George is in good+ condition, there is some creasing and some ‘water marks’ and some age related marks here and there. The photo of Ringo is in good++ condition, with some creasing and some age related marks here and there. Theres NO pen writing, pin hole damage, blue tack residue, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the photos.

THE RECORDS: record one, side one is in near very good condition. Side two is in very good+ condition. Record two, side three is in very good condition and side four is in very good++ condition. The records are made of the original 1960s ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl. The record have remained dark and glossy.

The matrix are: YEX 709 – 1, YEX  710 - 1, and on side three, there is the more unusual ‘2’ matrix: YEX  711 - 2 and side four is: YEX 712 - 1.

The mother / stampers are: ‘6  O P’, ‘ 4  P G ’, very early ‘ 1  G G L ’ and ‘ 2 O ’.

THE AUDIO: is very good, the records play with relatively quiet grooves, but I did hear some light ‘ticks’ and ‘pops’ here and there. The records play with a good clear, loud period stereo sound. Each record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one, two and four are in excellent condition, side three is in very good condition. As this is a very first issue, two of the labels feature the original DARK green Apple colours. Each label shows the text ‘Sold in UK’ etc. Each label is free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
