In this offering we have Apple Records (PCS 7068), THE BEATLES (commonly known as THE WHITE ALBUM), by John, Paul, George and Ringo. It is a 2-LP set in gatefold jacket with four (4) colour glossies and one (1) folded poster included; the album's title is embossed on the front surface and the stamped number is quite low: 0334412 (see the photos above). "Stereo" is printed upper right corner of jacket's back surface. This is the "top-loader" version. Cover is tight and makes a crinkling sound when opened; inside the gatefold: Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod and Lofthouse International Ltd.. Though the jacket shows very little shelf wear there is considerable fading around the edges and the spine shows a bit of wear. Most people would find the cover at least EX+, perhaps better. We want to be as conservative as possible, so we give it a VG+ rating. We have removed the records and enclosed the jacket in a thick, re-sealable Japanese outer sleeve (not pictured). The four photographs are MINT; the poster is folded, as issued, and rates at least EX+ (no pin holes, tears, nor any signs that the photos or poster were ever removed from the jacket). The original, black inner sleeves are present and though slightly wrinkled, have no tears nor any signs of abuse (EX). The photographs, poster and inner sleeves are packaged apart from the original jacket in a 6-mil sleeve for protection during travel time and for your long-term storage needs at home.
All four labels show a few, light spindle marks, o/w NEAR MINT or better. The wax itself visually grades at about VG+ to NEAR MINT MINUS. However, these babies play-grade much higher! Conservatively, I'd give the sound quality about EX to NEAR MINT+; I've heard sounds here that I've NEVER heard from The White Album, neither vinyl nor compact disc!! That's a high recommendation given the state-of-the-art sound system on which this wax performed and performed so wonderfully -- no distortion, no surface noise, no startling pops or loud clicks, no skips. There is an unbelievable stereo separation and dynamic depth to the sound that quite literally takes your breath away. It's as if we'd NEVER even heard the music before! When Ringo screams I GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS! you hear (and feel) the rawness in his voice like never before. It's rather amazing. Given all this, the sound is not perfect. There is intermittent extraneous noise but it does not distract, at least it didn't distract this listener. Grading sound is such a subjective thing -- that's why we always offer a full refund within the first 14 days after the winning date for any reasion. We even pay return postage. So we boast "bid with confidence". The LP's are packaged in poly-lined inner sleeves within plain, white jackets. Included are two, archival-quality Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab inner sleeves at no extra cost. We recommend MFSL or Nagaoka inner sleeves.
This whole, beautiful package is assembled in a box set bag with flap and taped closed. We are collectors ourselves so we understand the desire to protect the rare and fragile pieces of musical history presented here. We will always go the extra mile.
