"PLEASE PLEASE ME" BY THE BEATLES. U.K. 1963 MONO PARLOPHONE LABEL (Cat.No. PMC 1202) RARE DECCA CONTRACT PRESSING.
Matrix Nos.= XEX 421-1 N / XEX 422-1 N
The vinyl is in "EX-plus" or "near-mint " condition. I have play-graded as well as visually graded this record. It plays as well as it looks-fabulous! The vinyl surface, even under direct spotlighting, looks lovely and untouched. Still has that as-new sheen and gloss. Both labels are in equally fine condition. There are just a few spindle marks on either and certainly no other marks or damage whatsoever. As you can see perfectly well in the pictures, these carry the distinctive Decca groove in the middle of the centre. Obviously when demand was so great for this album in 1963 and EMI's own Hayes pressing plant couldn't meet it, they sent out a contract to their arch rivals, DECCA. This practice was more common in those days than was previously thought. It seems they were all at it. But how often do you see one of these beauties, and in such pristine condition? The record is housed in it's original EMI paper and poly-lined inner.
The cover is in "EX" condition. The flip-over sleeve , printed by Garrod & Lofthouse, is intact. Has no tearing or splits and is in very finr shape. There is some very minor creasing on the back and front, especially along the spine, where there are a few small creases on the front that bite into, but do not break the laminate. There is some very faint scuffing on the surface of the front, but this is very superficial and hardly notices. The back is very clean and suprisingly unyellowed with time. There are no marks defacing it at all. A fab item from the fabs and a genuine collector's item, especially in this fine condition.
