Original copy of the 1949 10” LP pressing of Bing Crosby’s Christmas Greetings on Decca DL-5020. The second of his famous Christmas records, but much rarer than Merry Christmas. This collections has him coupled with the Andrews Sisters once more for two more songs, plus a few new Bing classics. Always overshadowed by his other Christmas album, this one never was as popular, even though it is just as good, and so not nearly as many copies were made, and it is considerably rarer than the other. This copy has some wear but it really plays pretty nicely. The disc is scuffy and there are some marks and general wear, but it actually plays clearly and brightly and is very enjoyable. Side one has a bit of crackle and background hiss that is noticeable mainly between songs but also in quieter parts of the music, though it really doesn’t ruin the listen. Side two plays much cleaner but still with a bit of crackle. Not bad at all, I say. Really enjoyable still. The cover has a 6” seam split at the bottom and a small 3” split at the top, but it is fully intact and actually quite striking and clean aside from that. Really a decent copy overall. Priced accordingly. I’ve seen EX copies go for 100 and more.
