BRAZILIAN OCTOPUS Lp. Original Argentina pressing on FERMATA deep groove label (LF 163), from 1970. Killer groovy item by a dream-team of session men from Brazil's underground jazz scene. Also a nucleus of players who providing the soundtrack for fashion shows organised by textile factory owner, Livio Rangan, with other key names like Rogério Duprat / Gilberto Gil / Caetano Veloso and Eliana Pittman. This maverick group were once the backing band for an early Sadao Watanabe studio project too ;) Colourful / creative and sophisticated mood music but with a youthful / hippie / carefree ambience. Every track is superb. Features several brilliant themes including a beautiful lounge version of the Edu Lobo classic CASA FORTE (aka CASA FUERTE). Great for DJs. Our soundclip opens with the delirious Batman-esque cum hot rod rhythms / drum breaks / mod organ and fuzz distortions of MOMENTO B/8 followed by the break-beat drums of GAMBOA and finishes long after with CASA FUERTE and it's tempo changing solos. Expect hip lounge with Miles Davis So What motifs on ME GUSTA SER COMO SOY / lovely male scat harmony on EL PAJARO aka THE BIRD and fabulous arrangements with stylish instrumentation, in general. For some strange reason, the obscure Italian issue on PDU label does not include the bomb track from this legendary session :( Outstanding sleeve artwork. Flute player, Hermeto Pascoal does not actually appear on the cover because he couldn't make it to the photo shoot. A clerk from an advertising agency sits by the piano and the old man / dog and child you see, had nothing to do with the group either. Very rare Lp!!! Vinyl is in strong VG+ condition with hairlines / light scuffs and pressing residue marks. Surface noises but to be expected for such a pressing. Some soft pops / ticks in places (as you can hear on our soundclip). A smudge / scuff and some sporadic pressing marks to small sections of "Pavane" theme (also recorded on our soundclip). A few tiny pressing craters in the vinyl. The thick card, front laminated sleeve is in VG+ condition overall with general wear from storage. Age discoloration / bleaching down the front left spine side. Corner and edge wear. Paste on back sleeve has dirt marks / humidity stains. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Very rare Lp!!! cido
