Bach St Matthew Passion Klemperer UK Columbia SAX 2446 / 50 ED1

 

Dietrich Fisher-Dieskau, Elizabeth Schwarzkopf and an all star cast with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Otto Klemperer perform the “St. Matthew Passion”of J. S. Bach. A 5 record set, this is an English stereo pressing on the Columbia Label (SAXS 2446 – SAX 2450). The labels are blue / green with silver border and “radio waves”. The records are of excellent appearance, and play and sound superb with a minimum of surface noise. The box has some minor damage to the right-hand corners and has a name in pen on the inside, and is otherwise in excellent condition, as is the libretto.
