This lovely and rare LP – a remarkable violin rarity – from Telefunken (BLE 140.48, German pressing, black/gold label, mono) features two beautiful Bach Concerto recordings – licensed from the French Ducretet Thomson catalog (320-C-027) and first published in France in 1955. Both performances boast the crack Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Munich under the inspired direction of conductor Kurt Redel, who also doubles on flute in the first composition. An added attraction is the presence of violinist Reinhold Barchet whose playing is a treasure.

These are spirited and richly lyrical performances, full of light and shade – exalted playing by any measure, playing that lingers in the memory long after the music has stopped.
There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by H.H. Stuckenschmidt, provided in German only. The beautiful cover art is uncredited, alas. There exists no finer pressing of these recordings and considering this disc is nearly 60 years old, it is in stunning condition.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is slight bumping/wear at corners, as well as minor creasing, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings and the jacket remains perfectly solid, bright, glossy, and very attractive in appearance – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Though there is occasional light surface noise, in general playback is superb, close to NM. However, those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
