Beatles: ABBEY ROAD 1st UK Press MISALIGNED APPLE No HER MAJ Label Nr MINT VINYL, with original black die cut inner sleeve

PLAY TESTED.

Complete and original 1st U.K. Press of ‘Abbey Road’. Released September 1969, the first press had a -2/-1 matrix, with the final track, ‘Her Majesty’ omitted from both the label and rear sleeve. The rear sleeve was also incorrectly printed, with the Apple logo out of alignment with the track listing text.

SERIAL NUMBER: PCS 7008

MATRIX: YEX 749-2 & 750-1

STAMPERS: 3 GMO & 3 TC

AUDIO. PLAY TESTED. EXCELLENT.

Both sides play beautifully. ABSOLUTELY NO SKIPS, JUMPS OR STICKING.

Some light surface noise on intros to either side, and very occasional light ticks and a little crackle, but absolutely nothing that adversely affects an excellent audio experience, and certainly very little trace of distortion caused by groove ware. Difficult to find a better copy without paying a small fortune.

VINYL APPEARANCE. NEAR MINT

Other than a very small blemish/very faint hairline to side 1 (pictured), the vinyl is stunning. Super glossy, clean, and no wear when examined in natural light. Fair to say, it’s near mint.

LABELS: EXCELLENT/MINT MINUS

Labels to both sides are minimum excellent, near mint minus. Rich and vibrant dark green apple to side 1, with perfectly legible black typeface. Side 2 equally as good, with no marks/staining etc. There’s just some very very light spindle ware to the centre holes, really only visible under angled light, indicative of the LP being very lightly played.

SLEEVE. EXCELLENT.

Fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve.

The front panel is clean, with just minor creasing in places, perhaps most prominent to left corner. There is light ring ware, as is usually the case with this sleeve, due to the lightness of the cardboard used.

The spine is again excellent, with just a few light marks, and a beautifully legible text. The top edge is also excellent with very little ware, whilst the bottom edge is also in great shape, again with just minor signs of ware.

There is some minor feathering to the opening edge, though no rips or tares.

The rear panel, that is misaligned, is superb. Very little creasing. Small signs of ware to bottom left corner, but really nothing easily visible. Excellent.

ORIGINAL DIE CUT INNER SLEEVE. EXCELLENT.

The increasingly hard to find original inner, leftovers from first pressings of the White Album, has just one very small seam split (pictured), about 1cm long. There’s no other splits, with even the ‘window’ in excellent condition. There’s a little, and I mean a little, feathering to the top, but the overall condition is excellent.

In conclusion, your bidding on a first press copy of Abbey Road. The vinyl appearance is mint minus, with excellent audio. It has the ‘misaligned Apple’ to the rear, with neither ‘Her Majesty’ to the sleeve or labels, and is housed in the original black die-cut inner sleeve. The overall grading is minimum excellent.
