THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE PLEASE ME'
1963 UK *STEREO* PRESSING LP
This rare & extremely early UK STEREO pressing is on 2nd variation of the black & yellow Parlophone label: PCS 3042
Both labels omit the 'Recording First Published..' & 'Sold in UK..' texts.
'The Parlophone Co. Ltd...' text begins the text around each rim.
An 'MT' tax/price code is visible in the centre of the side 2 label.
The disc is housed in first/'gold' front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover with a large stereo front indicator.
Although it is mostly missing, the 'Angus McBean' credit is just visible in the extreme lower right corner, starting beneath the blue 'S'.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex..' poly-lined inner-sleeve.

Both are clean & bright with some minor hole wear & light spindle mark,s but no major faults or wear.
Visual: VERY GOOD
Both playing surfaces of this rare pressing are clean & glossy with a few non-feelable surface marks & occasional light scratch, but nothing that can be felt or that affects sound or play in any way. Close examination beneath my halogen desk lamp shows up numerous harmless wispy hairlines, but no other significant marks or wear. Both sides of this heavy disc lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.
Play: EXCELLENT
The copy has been frequently but carefully played on good equipment as the sound throughout is surprisingly clean & clear. My careful play check at volume picked up no groove/play wear in either channel on any track. The only audible distractions were a single click on 'I Saw Her Standing There' and a few light ticks between on the bands between some tracks. Apart from that, this really is a fine sounding copy from some of the earliest stampers possible.

As you can see, this example is very tired and worn. However the front panel is clean & complete with no missing sections or heavy creasing. There is flaking and wear along the lower edge with a small split to the lower right corner. The rear panel has some scratches and minor blemishes although no writing or major marks. The lower flipback has been repaired a long time ago but all others are in place. There is some wear to the spine lettering and top edge. I've seen worse.
Inner-sleeve
VERY GOOD
Some general light creasing from storage and 'Please Please Me' written very small in one upper corner but no tears or seam splits.
- Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
- I carefully play every record I sell on an EMT 950 transcription turntable at volume and list all visual and audible faults.
