PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION - I have tried my best to indicate everything so you know exactly what you are getting!
DETAILS:
Beatles White Album - 1st UK Pressing
Mono Edition - PMC 7067/8
Serial Number: 0155064
Dead Wax has the following inscriptions, indicating very early pressing (more photos can be provided on request):
Side 1: XEX 709-1 Side 2: XEX 710-1 Side 3: XEX 711-1 Side 4: XEX 712-2
Another indicator of an early pressing is the missing inscription "an E.M.I. Recording" on sides 1 and 2. This inscription is present on sides 3 and 4 however. There is lots of info out there on the whole "EMI" misprint issue - just search for it.
CONDITION:
SLEEVE:
The top loading outer Sleeve is very good, close to near mint. It is still very glossy and completely in tact on all the seams. There is some slight ring wear and discoloration as shown in the pictures, but is very clean otherwise. No significant creases or corner bends.
INSERTS:
Poster is excellent, very crisp. Pictures show the condition.
Black inner sleeves are worn but still in tact with some minor tears. I am including 2 Mobile Fidelity master sleeves with the package - shown in the photos.
THE 4 PHOTO CARDS ARE MISSING!
VINYL:
I would grade the vinyl as Very Good (VG).
Cosmetics:
Glossy looking with some minor scratching and scuffs. One "larger" scratch on side one on the runout and into the label a little bit. I have a detailed picture of this, please request it.
Labels are all very clean, no water damage or peeling. Very sharp.
Overall, they look great.
Sound:
This is always difficult as different turntables/cartridges will have a different listening experience!
All sides play through just fine with some surface noise/crackling, some sides are better than others, but nothing that really overpowers the music. This is still a very enjoyable listen and the mono recording is very warm and unique. This record was obviously played and enjoyed over the past 50 years - not meticulously kept by a collector.
I have cleaned these on a home record vacuum cleaning system, but it may be possible to have this set cleaned professionally to get rid of some of the tougher dirt and grime.
