The Beatles – Yesterday and Today (ST-2553)

Authentic 2nd State "Paste-Over" Butcher Cover – Stereo – Los Angeles Pressing (#5)


This is a genuine piece of music history: a rare Stereo version of the infamous Beatles "Butcher Cover." While mono copies are common, Stereo pressings were produced in much smaller quantities (estimated at only 10% of production).


Key Identification Details:


• Plant Code: "5" (Lower right back cover), identifying this as a Los Angeles Capitol Records pressing.


• Format: Stereo (ST-2553).


• State: 2nd State (Paste-over) with a partial amateur peel attempt, technically making it a 3rd State.

Condition Report:


• Cover: An attempt was made to remove the "Trunk" slick. This resulted in paper loss and tearing on the front (see high-res photos). However, the underlying Butcher image—specifically the dolls and meat—is clearly visible. The spine and edges are structurally sound.


• Vinyl: The record is in Excellent (VG+) condition. It has been well-preserved and retains a high gloss with very few surface marks.


• Note: Original goldenrod inner sleeve is not included.

This record is currently held at Cabin Floor Records. Local buyers are welcome to visit the shop and ask for Joe to inspect the condition in person.


The record will be shipped with extreme care using a dedicated heavy-duty record mailer, with the vinyl removed from the jacket to prevent seam splits during transit.
