A little played US 1st press promotional rarity with the wonderful condition vinyl and exquisite mono sound quality being true highlights.

1958 Benny Golson "promotional" (DJ Copy) jazz gem on cherished deep groove US United Artists record label : excellent plus (EX+) condition vinyl - both sides of the vinyl gleam with almost perfect retention of their original jet black lacquered sheen and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that just a couple of very wispy hairlines and extremely faint small paper scuffs come into view on each side, and on side 2 just a couple of small areas of very minor vinyl discolouration (you have to look really closely to see it) where the vinyl lacquer has reacted ever so slightly with the poly-lined inner...very trivial, and with no impact upon the wonderful MONO sound quality, but I mention it nonetheless for completeness. Clearly this is a record that has been only sparingly played - remarkable, especially considering it's 63 year old antiquity. Excellent plus (EX+) condition United Artists black & shite"PROMOTION" labels with just a couple of small & extremely faint spindle trails next to the centre hole on each, and a few very minor and very faint small ageing spots on the side 2 label. Note the circular "deep groove" on each label - a clear indicator of very early pressings. Solid very good (VG) condition non-laminated thick cardboard outer sleeve with firm edges though there is some mild scuffing on the top and bottom edges and a 4cm bottom edge split adjacent to the bottom right corner. The spine is also firm but does suffer from a little crinkling and one or two very tiny paper surface splits. Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle but there is mild scuffing on each. the only other blemish is some light surface marks caused by handling/storage/general wear on each of the front and reverse sides - still very presentable and the reverse side paper paste-on remains excellent with all text perfectly intact. There is a pencilled original price on the reverse side : $4.98 crossed out and reduced to 99cents!! Excellent plus (EX+) MONO audio quality with no skips, sticks, jumps, repeats, interference, distortion or background interference/crackle (just the odd nanosecond of non-intrusive static). Even the dead wax run-ins and run-offs are virtually silent...remarkable! Simply great tone with crystal clear MONO audio quality throughout with Benny Golson (tenor sax), Lee Morgan (trumpet), Ray Bryant (piano), Percy Heath (bass) and Philly Joe Jones (drums) each in stupendous form - brilliant!
A true jazz rarity, especially with vinyl in condition as truly impressive as this, and a superb addition to any serious jazz vinyl collection. POSTAGE COSTS :

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
