This MC cartridge for sale is my own private possession. This is not a business sale.


For sale:

Benz Micro LP-S - "Nude" version without the wood body, custom built that way by Albert Lukaschek himself who preferred it that way. The cartridge was bought at his factory and directly from him. It has some historical value because this is one of the first ten batch of LP-S made and this explains the "nude" because the wood body was later added for the US market as promoted by the importer.

This is still the most advanced MC that Benz Micro has ever built. It has an evolved ruby square plate generator which I understand eliminates hysteresis (memory effect). Whilst it is around ten years old, it has less than 50 hours and barely run in. Please also note that this has the preferred Fritz Gyger FG-S stylus, which BM ran out of and had to use the Micro Ridge stylus. In any time in the future, the stylus can be replaced with Micro Ridge type, contact if necessary. 

Reasonably good price, so look after it, you have an immense working life possible from this cartridge.

There are a number of reviews around online and a search will find them. They are all very similar in their description that this is an extremely musical and naturally detailed MC, perhaps the best of this type as many extreme cost cartridges tend to sound hyper detailed and explicit and rising top (see the frequency response below), exciting but maybe lacking musicality, good in only some areas, but the whole suffer. Not here.

Here is one brief example of a review that describes the character perfectly, in The Absolute Sound by Harry Pearson:

"I don’t think we yet have developed the language to capture what the Benz itself does...of what makes it so special. The longer you listen to the cartridge—and the more it warms up—the more revealing it becomes in the sense of warmly inviting you in to listen more deeply to the textures, harmonics, and little subtleties that make up the basic foundations of the music itself."

This cartridge can still be bought new for around USD $5000, but this would be with the wooden body and weighing in at 16.4g - whereas this bronze only weighs about 14g. Yes, it is a heavy cartridge and must be well matched to the arm.


All original packing is 100% in tact. The photos shown here are the actual cartridge itself and not stock photos from the internet, and they show how pristine condition it is in. It looks as new as the day it was made.
