Description
This sale is for a UK Stereo pressing of Bread Love and Dreams' second album 'The Strange Tale of Captain Shannon and the Hunchback From Gigha', as released on Decca records 1970. The vinyl has a Decca narrow band label and features the release number SKL5048 and matrix numbers ZAL-964.p-1W / ZAL-9695P-1W in the run off grooves. An interesting more psych folk leaning follow up to their debut, featuring the additional talents of Danny Thompson and Terry Cox!
This is a very well cared for record, the majority of the playing surface has a nice clean sheen and free from any surface marks, with the exception of the third track on the second side which has a couple of scuff marks (see photo). I listened through both sides and apart from this track -which has a second or so of back round 'ticks'- the record plays nicely and is free from any other audible faults, no skips, jumps, pops or distortions. I tend to be conservative when grading vinyl so would say VG / VG+.
The record is housed in a Decca company inner with the blue colour code indicating a stereo edition.
The Yvonne Hughes designed picture sleeve is in excellent condition just a little creasing of the laminate but no blistering, seam splits, heavy ring wear and the spine titles are not worn! All in all a nice slice of Psych tinged folk and featuring some great performances from David McNiven, Angie Rew, Dave Richmond, Danny Thompson, Terry Cox and Alan Trajan!
