Description
Original UK MCA label stereo press LP.The third studio album by Budgie issued in June 1973 and recorded at Rockfield Studios, Monmouth in March. It was their most successful album to date and Breadfan has been covered by several bands, including Metallica. Singer/guitarist Burke Shelley has said that the band's name came from the fact that he, "loved the idea of playing noisy, heavy rock, but calling ourselves after something diametrically opposed to that". The band should have been huge, but as with many other Welsh acts it never quite happened......
This is the very first pressing with the black & silver MCA labels and the 2L 1L matrices and 1-B 1-B stampers of the first few hundred copies pressed.
The Robert Stace matt gatefold sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear and very light storage rubbing on the front cover and some light storage rubbing on the inner cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact & in VG+ condition. The record is in visually EX condition, with only a couple of few faint & wispy hairlines and one or two light needle marks/scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, undamaged, clean & bright with evidence of one or two faint spindle markings. The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves. Overall, a really great, loud and clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; 7-LNMG-277-2L mother stamper 1-B, 7-LNMG-1L mother stamper 1-B. This is one of the earliest first few hundred copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1973 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
