Description
Says Wikipedia, “James Fletcher Hamilton Henderson, Jr. (December 18, 1897 – December 29, 1952) was an American pianist, bandleader, arranger and composer, important in the development of big band jazz and swing music. He was one of the most prolific black musical arrangers and his influence was vast.” On this Viva-Tonal, Henderson plays “The Wang Wang Blues” and “Blazin’” recorded on May 26, 1929. Coleman Hawkins performs and maybe Billie’s father, Clarence, says Brian Rust. Some wear, few light scratched. Condition V++
NOTE: I grade records by a rating system that has been standard in the industry for decades. Still, it can be a subjective undertaking. I am more likely to grade by how the record reproduces aurally (I use a 78 Shure cartridge with a 1950s Voice of Music turntable that has been fit into a 1946 Magnavox Belvedere radio-phonograph) than by how it looks visually. Sometimes a record that appears substantially worn plays very well and sometimes the opposite is true.
