Description

I am a vinyl addict and I have been buying classic albums for nearly sixty years. During that time I have constantly purchased new versions of my original albums, including top rated re-releases running at 45rpm when available. On this basis, I am now selling some of my cherished, original albums, including this rare, laminated copy of David Bowie’s classic album.

This rare David Bowie Hunky Dory vinyl LP from 1971 is a must-have for any serious music collector. The first edition, pressed by RCA Victor in the United Kingdom, is in excellent condition and features a laminated cover. The original inner sleeve is also included (replaced by a more vinyl friendly inner sleeve) and the lyrics sheet. The laminated cover is in excellent condition as is the lyrics sheet. There are minor signs of wear due to the age of the cover but no damage to the sleeve and a still very legible spine. This album was purchased by me and has been cared for during the last 52 years.

The album is a classic example of Bowie's glam rock style and includes hits like "Changes" and "Life on Mars?" The album has always been played on a quality deck and cartridge to ensure minimal wear and I have graded the record as excellent (EX) overall. There are no scratches, clicks or pops when play tested and the surface noise is superficial throughout and does not detract from the music during quieter passages. There is virtually no spindle wear. The quality of the sound is outstanding on this medium weight disc. Superb dynamics throughout with a wide sound stage still evident when I play tested it before offering it for sale.

The sleeve grading is also excellent (EX) as is the included lyrics sheet. As stated I have replaced the original inner sleeve to provide extra protection for the album.

As an early version of the album there is no reference to A GEM Production on the back of the outer sleeve. The original Decca inner sleeve has blue text and a Made in England printed on it. The stamped/etched runout details:

Side 1 matrix/runout - Bobil APRS 5917 3T

Side 2 matrix/runout - Rasputin APRS 5918 3T
