Original David Bowie Hunky Dory RCA SF 8244, laminate front and spine with no Mainman and no GEM logos on back.
1st pressing with laminated front cover & spine, un-laminated back. The cover has a colour variation differing from represses. in which this release is green in tinge. A repress will not have this rich green colour to the front image.
The history of UK Hunky Dory pressings is quite complex. When the record was first published in December 1971, nobody wanted to buy it, so the first pressing is extremely rare. After the success of the Ziggy album, Hunky Dory was re-issued and sold in large quantities. There are four major variations of the early pressings:
The first pressing has a front-laminated cover (the major criterion to determine the very early pressings), no MainMan credits on the label, no "Gem production" text and logo in the top right corner of the cover back, a glossy label and the words "BOBIL" and "RASPUTIN" pressed into the matrix (though these words are difficult to detect).
The second pressing has a laminated front cover, too, no MainMan credits on the label, "Gem production" plus the Gem logo in the top right corner of the cover back, a glossy label and the words "BOBIL" and "RASPUTIN" pressed into the matrix.
The third pressing has an unlaminated cover, no MainMan credits on the label, "Gem production" plus the Gem logo in the top right corner of the cover back, a glossy label and the words "BOBIL" and "RASPUTIN" pressed into the matrix.
The fourth pressing has an unlaminated cover, MainMan credits on the label, "Gem production" plus the Gem logo in the top right corner of the cover back, a matt label and no "BOBIL" and "RASPUTIN" in the matrix.
***This is the very first issue and is incredible rare***

Cover: Excellent + / Sleeve shows a little laminate creesing and a little ring wear and light staing on reverse. See Pictures. Insert: Near mint / no crease, clear colour and text Vinyl: Visually is Near mint. The sound is Excellent + / No spindling or jumping. Very occasional little and very light background noise.
