David Bowie - Hunky Dory Genuine UK First Press!
There are 4 elements which make this a genuine, original and complete 1st UK pressing of Hunky Dory, this copy has them all:-
1. Sleeve Laminated on front with NO Gem Logo on back (top right), no Mainman reference.
2. Vinyl has the 3T/3T matrices with Bobil / Rasputin etched into run outs and obvious shiny/glossy labels. No Mainman reference.
3. Rice paper InnerSleeve with Blue print - Patent No & Made in England
4. Dark brown sepia lyric inner.
Laminated front to sleeve with the greenish tinge that was not present on later Matt pressings. The reverse of the sleeve is Matt, you can also see where the laminate overlaps the spine on to the back sleeve indicating a first press. There is NO Gem logo top right of sleeve which was rectified on the 2nd Laminated and subsequent Matt pressings. The sleeve is in excellent condition, no tears, no laminate lifting, writing or damage to sleeve, spine solid. The only very minor issues are a little age related wear to reverse and a couple of minor creases in laminate next to spine. They are so minor I can't even highlight them on the photos. A really nice copy.
Vinyl is the very first pressing with 3T/3T Matrix numbers and Bobil / Rasputin in run out grooves. The labels are shiny, glossy and smooth without any dip/groove like subsequent 3T pressings, again indicating it is the very first pressing. It plays through beautifully, there is the occasional low level crackling between tracks only and at the very beginning (quiet bit) of Changes, typical of vinyl of this age and certainly nothing overpowering. There is one click at the beginning of 'Oh You Pretty Things', I'm being exceptionally picky and grade it 'Excellent minus'. Generally plays through fine and sounds great!
The inner sleeve is also the rare original rice paper version with the blue text ‘Patent Number’ and ‘Made in England’. This is usually missing or replaced, this one is in excellent condition! How many copies have you seen with this? Not many I'm sure. I have removed the vinyl from the original inner to protect it.
Original lyric inner, this is the slightly darker version only evident in very first pressings.It has some creasing and age related wear / marks but still VG.
No reference to Mainman on sleeve, inner or labels.
This is an excellent condition (Vinyl, Sleeve & Inner Sleeve) copy. It has all of the first press attributes, very rarely available as a complete package with original inner sleeve.
