Description

An original 1st press of Ziggy Stardust on UK RCA from summer 1972. Matrix 1E/2E. The labels are consistent with 1st issue as they still retain the 'Titanic' publishing credits which were phased out immediately after the initial chart success in favour of 'Mainman'. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Robert Stace cover. Please note that 1st issue covers, like this one, do not make reference to 'Mainman' on the rear. Also included is the original lyric inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In great condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks, a couple of very superficial surface trails - nothing heavy or likely to cause significant issue [guaranteed]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are practically silent and the audio comes across with superb clarity. These early RCA copies are an absolute treat to behold and when you find a well preserved copy the audio is absolutely breathtaking! Interference is pretty much non-existent. All we could detect were a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments, and a couple of very light ticks in the mid-point of STAR [the sort you have to concentrate on to even make them out]. Even those slow build moments at the start of the songs play very clean. In reality, very little to complain about at all.. a barnstorming rendition.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) In stunning condition and I can assure you they do not surface like this very often. The front, which often exhibits surface wear, is almost entirely free of handling. Being picky the only one thing i can vaguely make out is a light crease at the centre, but you have to tilt the cover to the light to even spot it. The rear is possibly the best I've ever witnessed - there's a crease in the bottom right corner and a low-level one in the centre, but practically no signs of surface wear at all. Edge wear is super-light for this title and the openings are still sharp. The spine is pretty much entirely intact, and again, that's unusual for this title. Overall the cover retains superb rigidity and lies nice and flat. About as good as it's possible to go..
Inner (Ex) Again, due to the light paper used in manufacture this is tricky to find in top condition. But this example does not appear to have aged, has no splits or markings. Lovely!
