Description

An original 1st press of Ziggy Stardust on UK RCA from summer 1972. Matrix 1E/1E - very 1st cut. The labels are consistent with 1st issue as they still retain the 'Titanic' publishing credits which were phased out immediately after the initial chart success in favour of 'Mainman'. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Robert Stace cover. Please note that 1st issue covers, like this one, do not make reference to 'Mainman' on the rear. Also included is the original lyric inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In great condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks either side, and a couple of light trail marks - nothing heavy that's going to cause major issue. If you're someone who needs a perfect looking copy....this is, perhaps, not the one you need to go for. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with two slight deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. These early RCA copies are an absolute treat to behold! Interference is both minor and infrequent. All we could detect was the odd couple of static crackles in a few places [e.g. outset of 'Five Years'] and certainly nothing vaguely invasive or persistent. The deviations are a couple of ticks at the start of  'STAR' and then a few light ticks toward the end of 'Soul Love'. But in reality, very little to complain about at .. a lovely rendition!
Cover (Ex) These covers often surface in pretty poor condition so the owner of this particular example has looked after it very carefully indeed. Nice clean front with little sign off the usual surface wear  - which is very unusual. No signs of fading at all with colours looking very bold and vivid. The rear looks to be in similar condition with just a couple of very minor creases. Edge wear is very light for this title and the openings still sharp. All text on the spine is still legible  - which again is quite unusual. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) No splits. But a bit of ageing in places.
