I have for sale a true collectors piece in an overall condition that is superb considering its age and rarity, namely the 12" vinyl LP (original UK 1st pressing) of Deep Purple - Machine Head, the Purple Records release with original Garrod & Lofthouse laminated sleeve.
Before going into further details; a little background. This LP forms part of a personal family collection that is being gradually sold off. This record has not passed through the hands of multiple collectors but has remained safely stored and completely untouched in a corner of my parents attic for around 45 years. For the purpose of this auction I have inspected it closely, evaluated its condition to the best of my ability, and I present it to you now with the most accurate and honest description possible. While I confess that neither my camera, nor my photography skills are particularly great, I hope that at least some of the photos, taken in as much natural light as possible, will do the item justice. Anyway, onto the all-important details:
Release details: Original pressings have a laminated gatefold sleeve with date code of 7204. Recorded in Montreaux, Switzerland, in the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio.

1) No EMI credit on label, outer rim of label for first pressings has 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd' at 11 O'clock.

Record grading / condition
VINYL I have studied this record on both sides under a bright light, and while there are a few light hairline marks and signs of usage, I would not consider these to be significant. It has lost none of its original lustre, and overall is in very clean & glossy condition considering its age. Hopefully this is demonstrated in the photos.
LABEL Original 'Purple Records' label. No fading, rubbing or smudging of the lettering at all, perfectly clear and well defined printing. Some visible spider lines around spindle hole and one or two tiny marks are the only visible signs of wear here.
INNER DUST COVER Not a lot to say here, original inner paper dust sleeve, the exact same one that came with the album. One or two slight creases.
OUTER SLEEVE
Original Garrod & Lofthouse laminated sleeve in excellent condition, spine fully legible with no damage. Very minor rubbing to corners but still largely sharp and squared off. One or two small marks and a tiny bit of laminate lift / creasing around the perimeter but nothing major. No signs of fading, the printed design & lettering are still crystal clear. Inner gatefold spread is very clean with almost no signs of wear.OVERALL SUMMARY A rare original pressing in fantastic condition, hard to find such clean examples these days and it can only increase in value as collectors become more reluctant to part with their precious copies!
