Description

An original 1st press of MIJ on the UK Purple label from Xmas 1972. Matrix 1/1/1/1 - very 1st press. The correct etchings - Porkie/Pecko etc etc. One of the reasons to insist on the 1st press is that they were pressed - heavy! The labels still mention 'Gramophone' in the perimeter text - this indicative of 1st press. The vinyl comes housed in original gatefold cover with EMI inner sleeves.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In great shape and has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection expect nothing more than a couple of light marks per side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. It's a banger that's for sure! Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. It's certainly a great little player - one really should not be without this hard rock classic from the early 70's. Even the quieter moments of Child In Time play pretty clean - this is probably the trickiest section to find playing clean. The drumming in 'Mule' - clean as a whistle.... Perhaps, just a touch of light static momentarily in the intro to "Smoke On Water". There's lots of guitar shredding on offer here - don't buy a dud...get the copy that will deliver a superb rendition.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape with a clean and uncreased front and rear. A couple of slight blemishes and a touch of sticker residue in one spot - that really is all. The interior is superb - very impressive. Edge wear is very slight and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact and overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inners (Ex-) A couple of aged spots, but otherwise very nice.
