Description

An original and  very earliest 1st press of LAYLA on UK Polydor from 1970. Matrix A1/B2-A1/B2 [1st cut]. Earliest copies come with flat labels [not-ridged]. But you can sometimes find the very 1st earliest copies with a different publishing for 'Have You Ever Love A Women'. I don't know the story behind it but the very earliest copies went out with 'Peter Maurice' - instead of 'Lark Music' - as you find on ALL other copies. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill gatefold cover. We also have both original inner sleeves. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In great condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side, one patch of slight bag rash scuffing - nothing troublesome that will cause issue though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. 'I Am Yours' plays really nice and clean - just a couple of crackles in a couple of spots [better than you usually tend to find]. 'Thorn Tree' plays with clean background. Overall a superb little player. A few crackles in one isolated spot per side - and certainly no worse. Hard to fault really.
Cover (Vg+) Lovely clean and flat - just a couple of thumbnails. A bit of light surface wear on the rear - still pretty good though. The interior looks great. Expect a bit of edge wear in places - nothing epic though. The spine is a slight down and does exhibit a fair bit of wear. It has been inked in black to try and tidy it up. The text is 80% legible - which is not too bad. Overall the cover retains very good rigidity. Nice.
Inners (Vg) A bit aged. One side split taped up.
