Description

An original and very earliest 1st press of LAYLA on UK Polydor from 1970. Matrix A1/B2-A1/B2 [1st cut]. Earliest copies come with flat labels [not-ridged]. But you can sometimes find the very 1st earliest copies with a different publishing for 'Have You Ever Love A Women'. I don't know the story behind it but the very earliest copies went out with 'Peter Maurice' - instead of 'Lark Music' - as you find on ALL other copies. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill gatefold cover. We also have both original inner sleeves. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side, and some very superficial bag-rash type marking side 1 - but nothing troublesome or worrisome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. 'I Am Yours' plays nice and clean with just the odd static crackle here and there - better than you typically find. 'Thorn Tree' plays with clean background - perfectly. A few minor crackles observed in 'Looked Away' [no big deal]. One solitary click in 'Tell The Truth'. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) Lovely clean and flat with just one scuff mark top left on the front. Minor surface wear on the rear and one small scuff mark at the foot [inked in]. The interior looks great with a slight nick at the opening. Expect some edge wear in places - nothing epic though. The spine exhibits a bit of wear and has been inked in to tidy it up. The text is still 90% legible. Overall the cover retains very good rigidity. Nice.
Inners (Vg+) A bit aged. Bags present. No splits.
