Description

An original 1st press of LAYLA on UK Polydor from 1970. Matrix A1/B2-A1/B2 [1st cut]. Early copies come with flat labels [not-ridged] and were pressed heavy. The vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill gatefold cover. Please note the front cover exhibits the HYPE sticker advertising the full length of version of LAYLA.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a few very superficial marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Even the super fussy track 'I Am Yours' plays pretty clean - just a slight hint of 'static' in places. 'Thorn Tree' is absolutely spot on. These are by far the fussiest darn tracks on the whole album - so a good benchmark for how good the copy is. I'm only picking out a few crackles in one brief isolated spot per side. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) Nice clean front with very little handling. The rear exhibits some light handing along that bottom edge and at the opening. The interior looks great - no issues. A bit of edge wear is observable in places, but there's no wear-through. The spine looks pretty good. I have had to touch up with blank ink - but it looks tidy. The text is 95% legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
