This legendary compilation, released on Elektra in 1966, was the first album to alert the public at large to the emergence of one Eric Clapton henceforth known as God (plus, Tom Rush, Lovin' Spoonful, Al Kooper and Paul Butterfield Blues Band, whose very first studio recordings can be found here - and which are much more bluesy and much meaner and leaner than the subsequent recordings, I should add). This is a masterful collection of early 60's white electric blues, folk and even some blue-eyed soul. This very rare anthology came out in 1965 and contains the only known recordings of Powerhouse, Clapton's very first band (Yardbirds notwithstanding).  (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  (WEAK) NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.We could not "feel" these abrasions with our fingertip, and we suspect that they are NOT audible.

(b)          The album comes with the original booklet still intact

(c)           The album comes with its original Elektra ’66 catalog/brochure intact

(d)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(e)           The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(f)            Stereo  pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its mono  counterpart. The mix is more graphic, the sound resolution more precise, and the channel separation (which does not exist on mono version) adds a whole new dimension to the music. Also, the stereo mixes are (by definition) somewhat different than on the mono version. We estimate that mono copies of this album outnumber stereo copies  by a ratio of at least 5:1.

(g)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the back panel (nothing significant)

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No ring wear

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
