I BOUGHT this LP from Lol Coxhill himself, blowing his soprano under the neon lights in Leicester Square, early one evening in, I think, 1973. I was a novice music business journalist and was entranced by this wildly imaginative busker playing soprano so well, so fluidly. He was a character, an authentic jazzer rather than the typical busker, and he played with power, conjuring up... flowing freedom! I was enthusiastic, we talked, and he had this LP for sale. I listened to it, but once or twice only, as I was much more excited in those days by other music, and so it has remained stored since then. It is an improvisational journey, exhilarating, and there are great reviews on the internet. Physically it is in really excellent condition for a 43-year-old LP, and the vinyl is shiny and free of scratches: I was always very careful about handling vinyl - not letting others touch my LPs, of course. The plastic laminate is intact, though lifting slightly in some places.
