Up for bid is the 4 minute Edison Blue Amberol cylinder record #5476 "Henry's Made A Lady Out Of Lizzie", sung by Billy Jones & Ernest Hare (The Happiness Boys) with orchestra. Released March, 1928, this record is in very good condition with light wear, and some missing plaster which doesn't affect the tune. Plays well and sounds good. Record only, no box or lid.

 This is not a love song, but a tribute song of sorts, and a novelty song, although it may also include a bit of double entendre for those with "sophisticated" minds. The Henry alluded to is the great industrial genius and founder of the Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford (1863-1947). Ford's Tin Lizzie, officially the Ford Model T, was the first affordable automobile. First manufactured in 1907, Ford once said “Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black”.
 In 1927, after selling over 15 million Ford Model T's, they replaced the Model T with the Model A, which prompted Walter O'Keefe to compose this song. "Henry's Made a Lady Out of Lizzie" is about the new Model A. Its lyrics make the Model A into a female, and make much of the car's attractiveness: "Have you seen her, ain't she great? she's something you'll appreciate." The song also sexualised the car: "She's like all the other vamps, pretty shape and lovely lamps, Henry's made a lady out of Lizzie!" The song made fun of the rough ride of the Model T, and the bruises you'd get from driving one, then went on to favorably compare the Model A's features to the old Ford standard.

This record does come with a Blue Amberol box, but  no lid.
