SOME INFORMATIONS ABOUT IT :
While on a break between Revolver and Sgt. Pepper's in late 1966, and with touring now out of the question and John Lennon off making the film How I Won the War, Paul McCartney tried his hand at a film score, with a lot of help from Beatles arranger/producer George Martin.
This was Paul's first musical effort after the Beatles' rise to fame was one of composition. He wrote the score for the soundtrack to an obscure Hayley Mills ("The Parent Trap") film, called The Family Way. His tracks were collectively known as "Love in the Open Air," and in England a single was pressed, but nowhere did the record sell.
Although issued in all known formats at the time (reel tape, four track, eight track, cassette, and LP), and though Paul's name was featured prominently on the cover, the instrumental album failed to sell well enough to crack the charts. In all formats, it is scarce.
The original soundtrack album was a 24-minute set of orchestral pieces composed by Paul McCartney, arranged by George Martin and performed by the George Martin Orchestra.
Some people would argue that this is really the first Beatles solo album, instead of George Harrison's Wonderwall Music. The rather pleasing result is one of the most elusive souvenirs of the Beatles' high tide in the '60s, long out of print, and commanding sky-high prices on the collectors' circuit.
