FREAK OUT!
(UK VERVE, VLP 9154, 1966)
MEGA RARE FIRST UK MONO PRESSING of FZ's legendary debut! These are so rare and hard to find in decent shape, this is the nicest example I have ever seen!! Zappa's Verve albums were all released in the UK at the time, distributed by EMI, who decided to play around with FZ's albums without his permission. This one really takes the biscuit! Freak Out being a double album, EMI decided to trim it down to a single album, cutting the tracks Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder, How Could I Be Such A Fool and replacing Trouble Every Day with the 2 minute single edit. I have no idea if Zappa ever knew of this release, but I'm sure he wouldn't have been too happy if he did! The sleeve artwork is different too, the back sleeve uses text from the inside gatefold of the US version but none of the photos. Ideal for any hardcore FZ collection and as I say this is the best I have ever seen! You will not be disappointed! Great stuff! Don't miss out!
Vinyl is in EX condition : a few light marks, some light surface marks, plays very well with light surface noise (please note due to the way this disc was compressed to fill as much onto one disc, you can see wavy lines on the disc when held up to the light - I have never found one which doesn't have wavy lines!)
Laminated flipback sleeve is in VG++ condition : few light edge creases, bottom seam has a small centre split (see 4th pic), back has yellowed a little but still clean, small biro mark on back top right, lovely example
