WITH ORIGINAL E.DAY & CO PRINTED (TEXTURED GATEFOLD) COVER IN AWESOME CONDITION!!!COMPLETE WITH INSERT!! THESE ARE IMPOSSIBLY RARE AND THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER UK GENESIS PRESSINGS!!!
Another from my personal collection, listed for its rarety . These rarely ever turn up for sale! Being an avid Genesis vinyl collector I have most of the earliest UK copies in my collection and I will be featureing some of the rarest 1st UK Genesis pressings on this site very soon. You often see US pink scroll pressings but rarely ever original UK pink scroll press, at least in decent condition! Important to note These are the earliest to be released on this pressing which makes this highly collectable and sought after indeed) These are virtually impossibe to find in decent condition! The overall grading that I would give is at least excellent to excellent plus for the most part. The audio is truly cristal clear and vibrant throughout and plays without distortion or any signs of grooveware, I heard some static crackle and perhapes very light ticks only really on side 1 but only in the odd isolated quiet place but I must emphisise that I heard nothing too bad that would spoil the overall audio experience in my opinion! Play tested at very loud volume on a top system two times prior to this listing!
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY MY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE UNIQUE CHARACTORISTICS ABOUT THIS AWESOME VERY RARE PRESSING!!!!!!!
The Charisma 'Pink Scroll' labels was the first label design used on LPs released by Charisma Records. In the UK, they were used from Charisma's inception in 1969 until mid-1972, with the release of Lindisfarne's Dingly Dell LP (CAS 1057). This was replaced by the large mad hatter label, designed by Paul Whitehead of Genesis sleeve design fame. In the United States, the pink scroll labels were used in late 1973 and early 1974 on releases distributed by Buddah Records. Releases distributed by Atlantic Records used the small mad hatter label. Because Charisma had many bands who were relative unknowns when they were signed, many original pressings of early UK issues of albums from Charisma bands like Genesis, Audience and Van der Graaf Generator with pink scroll labels have become quite rare and sought after by collectors. Please also note that the first pressings of these albums were also on a far superior quality of vinyl. Distributed by B&C Records, the heavy, thick vinyl pressings have only ever been shoddily re-issued when Phonogram took over Charisma at the beginning of 1976 (with the release of Genesis' A Trick of the Tail LP)!!!!.
TRESPASS is the second studio album by Genesis and was recorded and released in 1970. The only album with drummer John Mayhew and the last with guitarist Anthony Phillips, Trespass had a folk-flavoured progressive rock sound that was a marked departure from their earlier work, and foreshadowed the path the band would follow through the 1970s!.
The compositions were generally much longer and complex than before, featuring several different musical sections. The sound evokes a kind of 'pastoral English idyll' espoused by numerous progressive rock bands of the time. To this end, much use is made of multi-tracked 12-string acoustic guitars, blended with folky vocal harmonies, flute, acoustic piano, and gentle keyboard pads on Hammond organ and mellotron. The drum playing is generally fairly soft, which actually complements the atmosphere, although the band were unhappy with John Mayhew's skills and replaced him with Phil Collins following Trespass' completion and Anthony Phillips' departure!!.
Despite its generally muted, pastoral, folky feel, the album is not without dynamic moments. Peter Gabriel's vocals are soulful and angst-ridden throughout, particularly at the climax of "Stagnation", which also includes a prominent Hammond organ solo from Tony Banks. Closing track "The Knife" is aggressive and bombastic, featuring some biting lyrics from Gabriel, with Mike Rutherford playing fuzz bass. The song, which received great praise by The Nice's Keith Emerson became a favourite closer to live shows and appeared — with lyrical changes — on Genesis' 1973 first live album Genesis Live!!!!
.
All songs by Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel, Anthony Phillips and Mike Rutherford, except where noted.
- "Looking for Someone" – 7:07 (Lyrics: Gabriel)
- "White Mountain" – 6:43
- "Visions of Angels" (Phillips) – 6:51
- "Stagnation" (Gabriel/Phillips/Rutherford) – 8:49 (Lyrics: Gabriel)
- "Dusk" – 4:13
- "The Knife" (Banks, Gabriel) – 9:00 (Lyrics: Gabriel)
The vinyl.
This vinyl looks AWESOME!!! Still retains its original gloss from new! This is the original vinyl only found on these early pressings This lays perfectly flat on the turntable!!! When looked at under a strong light very few and fine surface marks\scuffs can be seen, mostly caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its record sleeve!!!!!!
The Audio Quality
I have played this prior to listing and this was played at very high volume on a top system. The audio is cristal clear and vibrant with (no) signs of grooveware or that this has been overplayed at all, and I must say truly exceptional audio seperation that can only be found like this on the earliest pressings !!!!! Please note! it is easy to be critical about 70s pressings please allow for the odd static in the form of very light background crackle that might be heard during some quiet places but (not) consistant throughout the audio! Points to note! I heard only very light static ticks on side 1 mainly in very isolated quiet places only, but not consistant throughout the audio and nothing too bad as to spoil the overall awesome audio effect! It is important to note that This vinyl has been stored in a case for at least 25 years and from my experiance constant cleaning before each play would benefit this vinyl, because i have noticed that the audio becomes cleaner each time it is played!!! (build up of dirt or dust in the grooves built up over years of storage contrabutes to a lot of very light background crackle) Also the fact that I can see some debrit on the vinyl after it has been played!!! I must emphisise the audio is awesome!!!!!!! There is (no) jumps or skips and no loud clicks or pops PLEASE NOTE! THIS VINYL HAS ALWAYS BEEN STORED SEPERATELY IN A POLY SLEEVE! THIS IS HOW I HAVE ALWAYS STORED MY RECORDS!!!! Top audio throughout!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED WITH THE AWESOME CLEAR AUDIO!!!! Side 1. I would grade the audio at least excellent and side 2 at least excellent plus throughout!!! In my opinion all indications are that this vinyl has barely ever been played at all!!!
PLEASE NOTE! I ALWAYS ADD THIS DISCLAIMER! PLEASE ALLOW FOR LIGHT STATIC CRACKLE\TICK PERHAPES DURING SOME OF THE QUIETER PLACES (NOT CONSISTANT THROUGHOUT THE AUDIO) PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS A GENUINE VINYL THAT IS 36 YEARS OLS! AND WOULD HAVE BEEN PLAYED ON A SYSTEM THAT WAS 36 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!
