What the MC5 and Stooges were to the '60s, what Sonic's Rendezvous Band and Radio Birdman were to the '70s, and what the Celibate Rifles were to the '80s -- that's what Sweden's Hellacopters were to the '90s. Young, strapping, and rocking out to almost cartoon-like proportions, the Hellacopters have made quite a name for themselves in Europe and Australia. And a deal with Sub Pop had them targeting the States.

When Swedish progg rock pioneers Gunder Hägg changed their name to Blå Tåget in 1972, the band took a turn in musical direction since the members had been improving as musicians. Many of the songs now had a more serious tone and the production was better overall. Still highly original, the double album Brustna Hjärtans Hotell is generally considered a classic.

Split EP with Blå Tåget performing Den ena Handen vet vad den andra Gör - later made famous by Swedish punk band Ebba Grön as Staten och Kapitalet; the Hellacopters contributes Disappointment Blues.
