Description
The 84 recordings included herein were made between 1927 and 1932. Harry Smith is credited as the editor of these historical American records ! I find myself amazed at all the popular songs that emanated from these four sides . This well preserved box set ( made in 1952 ) was once the property of the Silver Lake College Library . There is surface noise inherent from the actual field recordings or the vinyl records from which these vinyl records are themselves culled.
When examining these vinyl record albums I find the essential shiny gloss. To collectors like myself to find these long sought after LPS in excellent condition is like discovering the holy grail! I am certain that Jeff Tweedy [ hit me up if you get this] understands my quasi spiritual feelings . Actually forget the quasi- part lol…
There are no visible scratches , scuffing or pressing flaws.
Also, the 22 page incredibly informative booklet written by the great Harry Smith is in EX+ condition though NM may be more accurate! Some of the well known all time great musicians are featured in this box set including Blind Lemon Jefferson, John Estes, The Carter Family and Mississippi John Hurt!
