Rare original jazz lp: INTRODUCING...CARL PERKINS - Dootone Records, DL-211, the original deep-groove mono pressing on transparent red vinyl, Dootone Modern Jazz Series, 11 tracks; released in 1956 or 1957. Players include Leroy Vinnegar on bass and Lawrence Marable on drums. Perkins plays piano with his left hand in a backwards position, with his left arm suspended over the keys, and uses his elbow to play additional bass notes "This, combined with his highly imaginative ideas, gives him a dynamic and exciting new sound". He had a very short career, dying from a drug overdose at 29.

Condition: Fair-Acceptable/G (vinyl has heavy scuffing and scratching - it played all the way through for me, but definitely has background noise and ticks throughout, and a number of skips and pops, though it never locks into a repeat - still very enjoyable considering that it is the original release; labels have some rubbing and spindle marks; the jacket has some spotting to bottom margin and the bottom of the right-hand margin and spotting to the same area on the back cover; top and bottom seams have split all the way; spine has rubbing; right edge has some denting with several  tiny scars).
