This is a US vinyl pressing on Vee Jay 1062 from 1964. This is the Stereo issue with Version Two songs : 'Please, Please Me' and 'Ask Me Why'. It has the 'Stereophonic' banner on the front cover and lists the songs on the back cover in columns. The labels are black with colorband, 'VJ' in brackets and 'Stereo' printed on the right. The record comes in a Vee Jay Records inner sleeve.
This is VJ 1062 (2) SR2 B in Bruce Spizer's book.
The matrix numbers are : Side One : (triangle) 6313 "MR" in a circle S 63-3402-S 'URJ" and side Two : (triangle) 6313 X "MR" in a circle S 63-3403-S "URJ". It is a Monarch pressing.
This is an original record in an original cover. The labels have 'Stereo' printed to the right on the center hole. ( no stereo repros ever have 'Stereo' printed on the labels) The record plays true stereo. The colorband has all the correct colors. 'Introducing The Beatles' and 'The Beatles' are printed above the center hole. The run out area is 7/8 inch wide. The "MR" in a circle is machine stamped in the inner groove. On the front cover you can see George's shadow to the right. The left spine has the record number, the label name, the album title printed on it. There is a 1/4 inch curved inner flat inside the cover at top and bottom. There are no break downs in the printing on the back cover on the song title 'A Taste Of Honey'. On the back cover there is a coma in the song title of 'Please, Please Me'.
The songs are : I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Anna, Chains, Boys, Ask Me Why, Please Please Me, Baby It's You, Do You Want To Know A Secret, A Taste Of Honey, There's A Place, and Twist And Shout.
Overall Condition is : Cover is VG+ / Record is VG
The cover is VG+ with no writing and no seam splits. There is a hint of ring wear on the front at bottom center and light wear on the back cover. There is light wear on the bottom seam and the bottom left corner. There is a bit of wear on the top seam at far right. There is a tiny dent along the mouth at bottom right. The vinyl looks VG+ and it plays VG. There are no scuffs or scratches. There are light handling marks and some hair lines from going in and out of the inner sleeve. It plays with static throughout and especially at the very beginning and between the songs. I just cleaned it and it sounds great. The labels are clean with light spindle marks. The record comes in a Vee Jay inner sleeve.
