This is a STUNNING copy of Jethro Tull's fantastic debut album "This Was" on the original Pink Island label from 1968.  Issued both in Mono and Stereo, this copy is a much rare MONO copy, with a first pressing black and orange "Circle" logo on a bright pink textured label.

 

The catalogue number ILP 985 indicates the MONO edition and the matrix number endings are A/B indicating a very first issue. 

 

The cover is the original "wide spine" and is Mono specific.  It is a 1st issue laminated gatefold sleeve (with flipback seams).  The laminate is complete and the edges sharp.  The only blemishes of note are a small crease on the bottom right corner (about 1 inch in),  as slight "finger fold", about 2 inches in from the bottom on one of the dogs, and a tiny amount of ringwear.  I'm being extremely harsh here with these comments as the cover is, overall in FANTASTIC condition and I can confidently grade it as NEAR MINT See photos for further information.

 

The labels are bright (unfaded) and unmarked.  They are MINT.  See scans for proof.

 

The record is pressed on thick, chunky vinyl, typical of the 60's.  My family have owned this from new and it has been played ONLY TWICE in forty years!  Consequently I would grade it as MINT with the following observations.  The vinyl still retains its original "rainbow" sheen and apart from an EXTREMELY small & faint paper scuff (Which I am sure will not affect the play) appears perfect.  I have not used any detergents or chemicals to clean the record.  All that is visible is a small amount of dust.

 

I am confident that you are VERY unlikely indeed to discover a copy of this fantastic album in better condition.
