(Thick heavyweight vinyl retains it's full gloss and shine. There are only a couple of faint inaudible hairlines and one very small mark on side two where on playback you can hear a light click for two revolutions only, otherwise the record plays superbly throughout with great clear sound. A lovely copy of this very rare lp)

On offer here, from my own collection, is the very rare original 1970 UK PHILIPS RECORDS BLACK LABEL 1st PRESS  vinyl issue of this FABULOUS and UNIQUE early 70s UK underground psych / popsike/ progressive album.

This one’s strictly for British late 60s psych / popsike connoisseurs – fans of English bands like Kaleidoscope (the UK band), Nirvana (the UK band), and Procol Harum , will love this. The singer sounds at times just like Colin Blunstone of the Zombies.

Renowned 60's psych / prog band JIGSAW have several collectible and highly sought psych recordings, and this album is one of them.
From a period when it became fashionable to include some banter between tracks, (as with The Small Faces 'Ogdens Nutgone Flake', Rainbow Ffolly, and The End's 'Introspection' albums) this band took that on board with this recording. There are some fabulous tracks featured on this rare lp, with 'Diesel Blues' and 'Seven Fishes' being outstanding, and a great version of Family's 'Weavers Answer'. A rather unique joke is the oddly truncated tracklisting on the lables - as a random few tracks are noted...with a footnote that you should see the sleeve for more track details!

Maybe it’s the fact that the great popsike songs on Letherslade Farm are positively buried between some of the most esoteric comedy "skits" this side of a Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band album.  I mean, let’s face it, if you’re not British, you’re not going to get any of the spoken word stuff, and if you are British, you’re too drunk to care. They even toss off a few parodies of old-time music too – poking fun of doo-wop in "Danny" and old scratchy 78 rpms in "Can I Have This Dance?". But persistence is a virtue, and if you can dig your way through the Monty Python style sketches, you’re rewarded with some beautiful, lost British psych treasures. There’s the stunning "Weaver’s Answer", all fragile Kaleidoscope/Nirvana folk psych genius.  "Say Hello to Mrs. Jones", one of the greatest outtakes from Odyssey and Oracle that the Zombies didn’t write. And the chunky Rubble contender "Seven Fishes", a kinda proto-prog psych thing that would’ve fit nicely on that Spacegirl and Starman compilation a few years back. The band even pull off a brilliant Cream rip on "Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind", which quotes Shakespeare but pretty much steals from Baker, Bruce and Clapton.

Letherslade Farm is a solid, often brilliant British psych/popsike album with progressive touches that ranks right up there with Nirvana’s 'All of Us' and Kaleidoscope’s 'Faintly Blowing'......And not only that, it’s far rarer than you’d think – showing up about once a year and becoming quite the in-demand item.
Anyway, this is an exceptionally rare release, a great original 1st UK pressing which is seldom seen these days, particularly in such nice condition.

MINT (M): The record / cd displays barely any signs of use, if any, with no marks or deterioration in sound quality. Extra items and cover are near perfect.

EXCELLENT (EX): Shows only minor signs of being played with very little lessening in sound quality. The Cover and extras will have some light wear and or creasing

VERY GOOD (VG): Has been played many times but has no major deterioration in sound quality, despite some noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Cover and extras will have normal wear and tear but no major defects

GOOD (G): Has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and any extras may suffer from folding, scuffing, split spine, discoloration etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable and has considerable surface noise and may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly. Covers badly damaged or partly missing

+ or - : Indicates slightly better (+) or slightly lesser (-) condition than main grade
