A truly excellent condition copy of this increasingly rare 1967 UK A1/B1 earliest, very first pressing rock classic on the Track label, MONO, 612001

 Matrix Numbers :

  Side 1 612001 A 1 with stampers "1 2" and "2" at 2 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

   Side 2  612001 B 1 with stampers "1", "1" and "4" at 1 o'clock, 3 o'clock and 4 o'clock respectively

Note that the side 2 matrix "B" replaces a crossed out "A" which, along with the low stamper numbers, point to this being not just a first pressing but a very, very early first pressing!

The condition of the vinyl is excellent+. Each side of the vinyl, completely flat and nice and thick, has a beautiful appearance with virtually all of the original lovely jet black lacquered sheen still intact. In normal daylight the condition of both sides of the vinyl come across as near perfect, and it is only with close scrutiny under a bright light (and the vinyl tilted at the right angle) that a few very wispy hairlines and very light paper scuffs come into view - all very superficial, surface only and nothing "feelable". This really is beautiful and sparingly played vinyl - remarkable for such a brilliant album and 52 year antiquity such as this. 

Each label is excellent+. Hard to fault in fact, with no marks or "nicks" and all silver text completely intact on the beautiful matt textured background. I can just about make out a single very small and very faint spindle trail adjacent to the centre hole on each label.  

The iconic Ernest J. Day front-side only laminated outer sleeve is excellent. The top and bottom edges are devoid of any scuffing at all and each corner remains a perfectly defined right angle with barely any rubbing. There are some very small areas of light laminate lifting adjacent to the bottom edge (including the bottom right corner) and the occasional small (less than 1cm) very sight laminate crease adjacent and perpendicular to the bottom edge, top edge, and spine - in total x14 of these but each are very trivial and barely noticeable. The opening edges also remain firm with no fraying at all. The photography, art work, and colouring on the front side remains beautifully intact with the same richness, vibrancy, and clarity as when this record was first bought. Similarly for the reverse side which is near perfect - gorgeous! The only other blemish of note is some scuffing on the spine which has obscured most of the spine text, though "scuffing" may be too strong a word because the spine itself has been manufactured as very thin, with the cardboard folded  in such a way that the text appears to be partially obscured anyway! I have one other copy of this same pressing LP and the issue is exactly the same on that album also, pointing to a manufacturing anomaly.

Finally, the quality of the audio is excellent plus (EX+). In fact, it's superb! Great tone and clarity with no distortion either at higher volume or on the higher frequencies. No clicks, no skips, no "pops" or "smudging" and no background interference or crackle. Clearly this LP has been sparingly played. And what a great LP this remains, with every track making for a wonderful listen. Listen to mono audio reproduction on vinyl at it's very best!

Comes with plain white "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" and "PATENTS APPLIED FOR" inner sleeve with no tears or splits, just some mild age discolouration, and remaining in excellent plus and fully functional condition still. Note that I always post the record in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.

In summary a brilliant copy of this increasingly rare and sought after (especially in condition as good as this) 1967 UK 1st pressing rock masterpiece - worthy of gracing any vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of packing and postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
