Description
In all my years collecting records, this is certainly one of the best-of-the-best. Original Gold label deep Groove Mercury Living Presence Promo advance 1st pressing of Janos Starker "Suites for Unaccompanied Cello Complete" Mercury Stereo SR3-9016. Considered to be the Holy Grail of cello suites and an advance promo makes it even richer.
Stunning copy in NM (all 3 records). Look's unplayed with no spindle marks and presents a brilliant original lustre. Booklet is NM. Also featured here is an original memorandum from Mercury Records to all classical radio station librarians regarding program planning, classical reviewers, and information about the release. (see photo) A detailed timing sheet is attached to to the underside of the top cover of the box. The words: "PROMOTIONAL COPY NOT FOR SALE" is also stamped there.

Gets no better. The box is NM- but, considering the age of this release (1965) is in great condition. A label has been attached to the top-left-corner of the cover and some of the corners are beginning to split. That is all. (see photo) Overall, this is a marvelous set and has been extremely well cared for. There is no RESERVE on this record set but, based on current market prices, easily warrants a starting price of $800. I expect it will fetch far more.
