John Lennon "John Lennon On Ronnie Hawkins The Short Rap" (:06) / "John Lennon On Ronnie Hawkins The Long Rap" (1:24) original USA 45 rpm promotional phonograph record, Atlantic Records PR-104/105, with Atlantic Records sleeve. This is an ultra-rare promotional only issue, made by Atlantic Records. The record has all-white labels, with black print text. Both labels are clean, with no writing on either side. There were three issues of this record, and all are very rare; this is the first, and the most difficult to obtain. In 1970, rockabilly legend Ronnie Hawkins signed with the Atlantic Records family of labels, and released the Long-playing (LP) phonograph record album "Ronnie Hawkins", on Cotillion Records (SD 9019). John Lennon had great admiration for Ronnie Hawkins, and he recorded this message for radio station airplay, to help promote the single "Down In The Alley". "The Long Rap" is 1:24 in length, and is the full-length version. "The Short Rap" is only :06 in length, and was a short promotional spot, used in-between commercials. "John Lennon On Ronnie Hawkins The Short Rap" / "John Lennon On Ronnie Hawkins The Long Rap" was released in the United States, in 1970. This thirty-five-year-old promotional only phonograph record has never been played, and is in near mint to mint condition. The phonograph record comes in an Atlantic Records sleeve. This is the nicest copy of this record that you could find. "The Official Price Guide To The Beatles Records And Memorabilia Second Edition" (1999) lists a near mint promotional copy of "John Lennon On Ronnie Hawkins The Short Rap" / "John Lennon On Ronnie Hawkins The Long Rap" Atlantic promotional 45, at $100.00. That is a six-year-old price. This is the only copy of this specific promotional only record that I have ever owned.
